Beginning My Journey

Eighteen-year-old MaryJustice Lucas from Huntsville, Alabama, has a passion for songwriting, and entertaining. Whether it’s Pop, Indie-Pop, Christian or New Country, her songs appeal to teens as well as older music lovers. She writes from the heart, inspired by the complexities of relationships. She is a multi-award winning singer and songwriter at the local, regional and international level since age 13. MaryJustice is a Freshman at Calhoun Community College working toward an Associates of Science in Music Industry Communication. She auditioned and was awarded a music scholarship and performs with the Guitar Ensemble. Many of her original songs are being featured by the Guitar Ensemble. She is a recipient of the NACMAI 2012 Female Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Rising Star CD of the Year (her original music). She no longer competes but concentrates on her songwriting, recording and live performances. Miss Lucas performs concerts, showcases and songwriter-rounds regularly in North Alabama and throughout the Nashville, Tennessee area.

MaryJustice was selected by eXtreme Tours 2013 to join their East Coast Tour. Because of prior commitments, she did a short two-week tour with them June, 2013. MaryJustice is one of the North Alabama artists featured in the July/August 2013 NO’ALA Magazine. She was selected by NO’ALA and their sponsors, First Southern Bank and Zaxby’s to perform for their “On the Road” W.C. Handy Music Festival Kick-Off Party on July 19, 2013.

Whether performing on stage, live in a concert, showcase, benefit, festival, street outreach ministry or in the studio she delivers a solid performance, creating the passion or drama needed for any particular song.  Although her shows usually feature her original music, she occasionally performs songs by other artists who may not necessarily be mainstream music, but whose songs have a good story to tell or a lesson to be learned. She will sometimes break out with something totally different like a Pistol Annies or Kacey Musgraves song. She sings “covers” in her style and will change certain lyrics to make them more “family friendly.” MaryJustice has a catalog of originals to perform a two-hour solo performance.
